IT'S ABOUT BEING FAST. NOT ABOUT BEING THE FASTEST.

Strava gave us 5000€ and 4 weeks to create, organise and execute an epic running event. We delivered.
In the summer we hosted a special event for Strava with a Live Act (MRJAH & Garma Kang), delicious Food (Friedel Richter & Café Kraft), Tape Art (MR GALLE) and a spontaneous extra mile with the first unofficial Beer Mile Championships of Berlin. The #MyMile event was limited to 100 Runners. All spots have been taken within days.
The event itself started with a quick photo shoot for each runner, with a polaroid cam, to have all the heats organised by pictures on a wall at the running stadium. This idea was quickly copied around the world at other #mymile events. But in true KRAFT fashion we didn't brag with that idea, we were proud it was copied. New running enthusiasts joined our event because of the provided dope AF music and food, but also real German running pros joined (like Fabian ‚FAB‘ Clarkson).
Another essential item for a proper KRAFT event? Smoke bombs! Hell yeah! Did we have permits? Hell no! Pictures just always look better with smoke bombs, photographer Max Menning was more than happy about this idea.
What else was different compared to a pro running event? Mad ass cheering, because if you don't run, you cheer! Cheering can mean being accompanied during a run by our co-founder Eugen with a smoke bomb or by seeing our Niklas in a deep squat position next to the track and screaming his lungs out. KRAFT style.
Another budget decision: No money for awards. So we made our own prices and trophies. This time: Old hand sprayed running shoes on a piece of wood. We didn't only have prices for the fastest runners but also some special prices such as: #minikraft and #cheerkraft ! Those trophies are now being sold on eBay for thousands of Euros, they are so wanted! hihi.
But solely running a fast mile wasn't enough for us. We decided to also host the first unofficial beer mile challenge that day. It was more than well received. Beers were chugged in no time, miles were run with big bellies and people about to throw up. In the end (our #fotokraft Max Menning is still to date sure he could have won the race…), those are the memories that will last, the ones where you had beer in your eyes instead of tears from laughing!
We said it than and we mean it now again: Big thanks to all Runners and Supporters who showed up! It's because of YOU that this event was badass.
