Yes, we are doing it again. The same distance, the same weather conditions, the same race, the same track. You could argue: Why? Why are we taking up this challenge again to run from LA to Vegas when we already know that this is going to be hell? Well, you should know us by now, you know that we are crazy, that we love challenges, that we believe in our crew power and that we are having hard times to stand still.
So. Same distance, same weather conditions, same race. BUT a different team. An even better team, more motivation, more spirit, more KRAFT. This year we will run with a team of ten as Björn, Paul and Lukas are joining the racing team. And we really need this as Manu is not coming again this year and racing with 8 was a hard experience. Two of us did not feel at the top of their fitness at all due to injuries, the others had to cover and all this led to a total exhaustion after we crossed the finish line in Vegas. None of us wanted to run any additional meter. Or walk to the close by coffee shop. It was just too much. 550 km divided in 8. Still feeling a little sick when thinking of it.
In one month we will start our trip again to Los Angeles. Before the race, we will have some holiday time to enjoy the beautiful parts of LA. We discovered a lot already last year, but the city is so huge, that we want more. All of us love travelling and getting to know the world, so this time it was again really important to have this time before to get ready and enjoy. I mean, this trip is all about fun, so there you go!
When we got invited again in October 2017 we were thinking about joining the race once again or not because last time as you already noticed we felt pretty sick after the race or some of us already during the race. What brought us here to make this decision and say yes?
For most of us it was one of the biggest adventures in life, for others it was THE BIGGEST. We were dealing with many ideas because we all had this great experience in mind and wanted to get at least the same or put it on a higher level as last year. We thought about signing in with two teams this year or make it even more special than last year with any actionplan during the race or have any other new experience. At the end we decided to sign in with one team as a crew where its all about good vibe and good people.
Each of us is getting more and more excited and starts to train again a bit harder. None of us is aiming at PB’s at other races, we fully focus on TSP and use races as trainings to check in on fitness, injuries, weaknesses. It’s been a year with ups and downs in sport, we had breaks from running and YES! we enjoyed it so much not running, but going to festivals, concentrating on new professional challenges or go skiing. But now we are on fire again, promised. Just need to regain speed, motivation and the will. Of course, trainings are hard, they take a lot of time and we all work, have friends and family and need to combine this with the runs.
We booked flights in the middle of January already but the US remain an expensive destination. All this money just for the craziness of running from LA to Vegas. Good that we all couldn’t care less because we know: some adventures in life you should do again even more if it’s the last time to join. The Speed Project - 40 teams will be part of the race which means there will be probably about 500 people joining or cheering at the race where its all about running, partying, adventure and ENJOYING - last will be hard but at least everybody enjoys the first session of the relay before it’s just getting tough and tougher :)
We booked Airbnb, RV and started to plan our trip more in detail. We train harder and do our first pre race in Barcelona. Setting up some new PBs and getting more excited to join the TSP 4.0. Now we have one month left until we will head over to LA and do a week full of relaxing, partying? :P and little running. We started again with our Sunday Runs to do some nice Longruns when Berlin is showing us minus 100000 degrees - sure, thats all we need because as you know running through death valley means there is snow everywhere *haha
Apart from longruns we increased our weekly kilometers, do different trainings, some more partying because dancing is also exhausting and helps to get fitter :D At the end each of us has his own strategy and knows whats best for body and soul.
We also really need the big KRAFT.community to stay tuned while training hard. Those guys show up every week at our KRAFT.Tuesdays and work out with us together - because together we are stronger and can motivate each other way more than doing trainings alone.
Sure, you want to know what is our new goal this year?
We don’t really have a new goal or settled up a new one - but obviously we want to break our record of 39 hours from last year and go faster to do more party in Vegas :)
But really: Maybe you can imagine and did already kind of a race in past. Or on the other way you know that it can be also tough to sit in one RV where everybody is exhausted and didn't sleep for hours or even days. A few are grumpy a few are still motivated as f_*_k and other just feel the pain in there legs and want to arrive in Vegas. Will see if it will be the same as last year or if we trained better and are fitter.
So, our goal is again like last year to go there as a crew where it’s for sure all about good vibe. We know that we are good people and love each other a lot. We also know that we can handle the pressure to break our own record and try to finish the race with a big smile!
